Primitive enigmatic crinoid!!! – extremely rare...

Spectacular crinoid echinoderm. It is probably the species Pareocrinus ljubzovi, although this group has not yet been reviewed in the Fezouata Formation. There are two specimens. There is a plate and a counterplate. These crinoids preserve the various parts of the animal in exquisite detail and have a very short stalk. The stalk is complete in one of the specimens. This species is extremely rare; very few specimens have been found. The contrast between fossil and matrix is spectacular. The extraordinary preservation of the fossils allows observing in great detail the delicate structures of the enigmatic animal. A specimen worthy of a museum. Plastic supports included. Measurements of Pareocrinus 1: 87 x 30 mm Measurements of Pareocrinus 2: 75 x 30 mm Plate: 317 g; 15 x 10.5 x 2 cm Counterplate: 263 g; 15 x 7 x 2.5 cm The deposits of the Fezouata Formation, near the Moroccan town of Zagora, are providing a rich and varied record of fossils with extraordinary preservation, to the point that soft tissues or soft-bodied animals are frequently preserved. This type of preservation is similar, though later in time, to that of the famous Burgess Shale (Canada). These are fossils dating between 480 and 472 million years ago. Back then, Morocco was an ocean and located near the South Pole.
