Alla auktioner / Diverse / Ramón Casas (1846-1932); after - Portrait of King Alfonso...
- Oil on canvas. - In the portraits dedicated to Alfonso XIII, Ramón Casas subverts the conventionalities of royal iconography to subdue the Bourbon majesty to the bold, uninhibited, and fully modern gaze of the Catalan movement. Stripping the young monarch of ceremonial pomp and the institutional gravity of academic art, the Barcelonian master prefers to capture the psychological vibration of the man behind the crown, often trapping him in photographic frameries, sketchy strokes, and a plastic spontaneity where the light of the century dissolves the divine aura of power. Casas’s brushwork — midway between the synthesis of poster art and the elegant refinement of Barcelona’s bourgeoisie — reimagines royal iconography not as an unchanging monument, but as a living snapshot, where the king’s youth converses face to face with the visual modernity of a century born ready to desacralize old myths. - Image dimensions without frame: 18 x 26 cm / 24 x 32 cm with exclusive custom frame. At Montbaron Gallery, we are pleased to offer our clients an exclusive selection of artworks, all of them unique, original and unrepeatable. Each piece in our gallery results from deep dedication, a creative vision, and masterful technique — qualities that guarantee its authenticity. The works we sell are not industrial reproductions; they are pieces created individually by renowned artists, each with its own story and essence. Originality is the basis of our commitment to excellence, and therefore every painting or sculpture that forms part of our collection is carefully selected to ensure its uniqueness. Acquiring a work from Montbaron Gallery means owning an irrepeatable piece, an investment in creativity and talent that over time will preserve its artistic and emotional value. We are proud to offer works that not only beautify spaces but also connect our clients with the richness of human expression through art that is most authentic. Thus, we guarantee that every work that leaves our gallery is a unique piece in the world, with no replicas, and a reflection of the innovation and passion of the artists we work with. Certain lots, due to their age and value, require an export permit issued by the Ministry of Culture. Although this is an administrative procedure, it is indispensable to ensure the authenticity of the work and its free circulation internationally. Montbaron Gallery is committed to offering its clients original, unique, and unrepeatable artworks, guaranteeing the authenticity and quality of each piece in our collection. To ensure transparency and trust in every acquisition, we offer a digital Certificate of Guarantee, signed by a certified art historian. This certificate certifies that the acquired work has been authenticated by our specialists, who verify its authorship, origin, and condition. The Certificate of Guarantee includes full details about the piece, such as its author, creation date, technique used, and dimensions. The digital Certificate of Guarantee will be issued upon the client's request, providing an official reference for the acquired piece. This document will be delivered in digital format and will be signed by a gallery art historian, ensuring its validity and endorsement. We are committed to the satisfaction and confidence of our clients, so any questions about authenticity or the condition of the work will be addressed professionally and diligently. To request your Certificate of Guarantee, please contact us through our usual channels. It is important to note that the shipping cost prices indicated in the listing are indicative and subject to modification depending on various circumstances. Our objective is to offer the best possible service, tailoring to each client’s needs and ensuring the artwork arrives at its destination quickly and safely, with no surprises. The frame shown in the preceding images has been added to the work by a third party or by the seller, and is therefore not an integral part of the object.
