Amoria maculata f. isabella XL (Walzenschnecke) – Rare Color Variant A premier exhibit for discerning Volutidae collectors: a magnificent XL specimen with exact deep-sea provenance data and a rare patterning. An important taxonomic correction for your records in advance: The correct scientific name today is Amoria maculata f. isabella (often historically listed as Voluta maculata or Amoria pallida/volva; the spelling "amaria" is a misspelling of the genus Amoria, and "malleri" refers to the historic synonym Amoria maculata f. mclarkei/milleri). This shell stands out for its rare XL size of 105 mm (standard pieces typically measure only 60–80 mm) as well as for the exceptional Isabella color variant, which here features a fascinating peculiarity: two distinct, parallel brown spot/stripe rows on the otherwise elegant, light ground. Product details in brief Scientific name: Amoria maculata f. isabella (E. A. Smith, 1842) Family: Volutidae (Volutes) Size: 105 mm (exceptional XL collector size; above the magical 10 cm threshold). Special feature: Exclusive patterning with two parallel brown stripe rows (spot bands) on the dorsal side. Quality: Top collector quality (fresh bycatch specimen with superb natural luster). Origin & precise provenance data Locality: Near Hixon Cay, southern Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia. Catch method & depth: Retrieved with a trawl from a depth of 40 meters. Scientific value: These complete, extremely precise data (exact sandbank/island, method, and depth) make the shell a valuable document for scientific special collections.
