Alla auktioner / Etnografica / Rare black quartz
From ourSelection of collectible minerals, we present a rare Morion Quartz crystal on matrix from Monte Rosso, Castelnovo ne’ Monti, in the province of Reggio Emilia. Moreover, it features a double-terminated crystal of intense black smoke color, in stark chromatic contrast with the pure white background matrix, characteristics that enhance its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that highlight its natural structure and visual impact. Morion Quartz is the darkest variety of quartz (SiO2), with its black-smoke color deriving from color centers that form when trace amounts of aluminum substitute silicon in the crystal lattice, later altered by ambient natural radiation over time. The double termination indicates that the crystal grew freely within a cavity, not anchored to the surrounding rock throughout its growth—a relatively rare phenomenon to observe. The Reggian Apennines, with its dolomitic and calcareous formations, provide a unique geological context for finding this quartz variety. This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also within the field of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, with rare exceptions always indicated in the description. The photographs are taken with professional lighting to best enhance colors and details; however, slight variations in shade may occur depending on the device or ambient light. Shipping is carried out via reliable and selected express couriers, with fast delivery (in many cases 1-2 business days within Europe), tracked and insured shipment and professional, secure packing, as confirmed by customer reviews.
