Contemporary binding in hazelnut-brown leather with engravings and gold title on the spine, sprinkling edges (spine defects). Pages slightly yellowed. Bindings tired and worn. Guillaume-Thomas Raynal (1713-1796) was a French historian, writer and thinker. However, he was not the only author of this History of the Two Indies: Diderot, but also Saint-Lambert and Lagrange united their efforts to denounce slavery and colonization perpetrated by Europeans. This new edition, even more disliked by the authorities than the previous ones, led to the author being condemned by the Paris Parliament and the work being burned by the executioner in a public square, which ensured it considerable success.
