Reliquary - Bronze

Relic with an oval bronze-gilded reliquary, finely worked and internally embellished with elegant decorations in gold- and silver-tone metallic filaments, typical characteristics of devotional sacred art of the period. The back features a rich decoration with the radiant IHS monogram and the inscription “Maiorem Dei Gloriam.” On the back is a episcopal seal. Inside it houses a Crown of Thorns relic of Our Lord Jesus Christ, one of the most significant symbols of the Passion, connected to the suffering and sacrifice of Christ during the events preceding the Crucifixion.
