Alla auktioner / Diverse / Renato Zevi - Centre table - Chrome, Metal, Brass, Smoked Glass
RARE RENATO ZEVI SIDE TABLE IN CHROME-PLATED METAL, BRASS AND SMOKED GLASS – ITALY, 1970s Refined square side table by Renato Zevi, manufactured in Italy during the 1970s and belonging to the same line as the coordinated bar cart offered separately at auction. Together, the two pieces form a rare coordinated ensemble, characterized by the same double-frame construction in chrome-plated metal and brass or gilt metal, combined with original smoked-glass surfaces. The table is a characteristic expression of Italian Hollywood Regency, a style in which the geometric rigour of modernist design is combined with luminous and luxurious materials. Its structure features a sophisticated double metal frame: the outer chrome-plated profiles enclose a second inner framework in brass or gilt metal. The contrast between the silver- and gold-toned surfaces creates an elegant graphic effect, enhanced by the linear proportions and precisely constructed joints. The original square smoked-glass top completes the composition, adding visual depth and lightness. Its dark tone, more desirable than the commonly encountered transparent-glass versions, interacts beautifully with the metal framework and emphasizes the sophisticated character of the piece. Its compact dimensions and balanced proportions make the table particularly versatile. It may be used as a coffee table, side table, occasional table or central element within a lounge setting. Although offered as two separate lots, the table and the coordinated bar cart can be used together to recreate an elegant original Zevi pairing of particular decorative impact. The relationship between the two pieces is clearly visible in their proportions, the characteristic contrast between chrome-plated and gilt surfaces, the tone of the smoked glass and their shared architectural conception. The period Zevi advertisement reproduced in the final images of the listing also provides an important historical and documentary reference to the company’s production and the stylistic language of the collection. A highly elegant and decorative furnishing piece, ideal for modernist interiors, Hollywood Regency settings, boutiques, showrooms, galleries or contemporary residences seeking an authentic accent of vintage Italian design. This lot exclusively comprises the table illustrated in the photographs. The coordinated bar cart is offered separately in another lot. Details Designer / Manufacturer: Renato Zevi / Zevi S.p.A.
