Robert Morlhon (XX) - Provence

A beautiful original French oil painting dated 1973, capturing the warmth, charm and vibrant colors of springtime in the South of France. Attributed to Robert Morlhon, the painting is signed MO.RO in the lower right corner and bears the handwritten inscription “MORLHON Robert – 1973” on the reverse of the wooden stretcher. This enchanting rural scene depicts a traditional Provençal farmhouse with green shutters, a donkey drinking from a stone water trough, and magnificent flowering trees beneath a luminous Mediterranean blue sky. Executed in a richly textured, expressive manner, the artwork combines bold Mediterranean colors with thick, confident brushstrokes and beautifully layered impasto. The delicate pink and lavender blossoms contrast wonderfully with the warm golden ochres of the landscape, creating a composition full of light, movement and timeless French countryside charm. Reminiscent of the Post-Impressionist tradition, this original painting has a distinctive artistic character and a wonderful vintage appeal.
