Royal Copenhagen - Torben Rasmussen - Candleholder Athena...

Royal Copenhagen – ‘Athene’ – Torben Rasmussen – set of 2 candlesticks – original packaging - 1980s-1990s A special and exceptionally well-preserved set of two Royal Copenhagen ‘Athene’ candlesticks, designed by the Danish designer Torben Rasmussen. The Athene candlesticks are characterized by a distinctly minimalist Scandinavian design. The combination of the wide, round base, slender vertical elements, and highly reflective metal surfaces gives the candlesticks an elegant, almost sculptural appearance. The gold-colored elements form a beautiful contrast with the polished metal. The set consists of two different heights: 17 cm and 30 cm, making the candlesticks form a nicely layered ensemble when placed together. Even without candles, they are attractive design objects for a modern, Scandinavian, or minimalist interior. Both candlesticks bear a clear metal marking on the underside: “ROYAL COPENHAGEN · DENMARK” In addition, the original Royal Copenhagen product and price stickers are still present, which is particularly interesting for collectors. The original stickers mention: * ATHENE 170 MM – product number 3586554 – original price 870 DKK * ATHENE 300 MM – product number 3586558 – original price 975 DKK The original selling prices on the two preserved stickers total 1,845 Danish crowns (DKK). In euros, the total value was €246. The sticker on the large version also bears the original designation “ALU FORG.” With both original Royal Copenhagen boxes An important plus point of this set is that both original Royal Copenhagen packaging boxes are still present. The boxes clearly state: ROYAL COPENHAGEN ATHENE Lysestage – Candleholder – Kerzenhalter Design Torben Rasmussen This confirms the model name Athene and designer Torben Rasmussen directly by the original Royal Copenhagen packaging.
