Royal Leerdam - A.D

A special cheese dome from 1939, designed by glass artist Andries Dirk Copier for Glasfabriek Leerdam / Royal Leerdam. Andries Dirk Copier was a leading figure for Glasfabriek Leerdam. The cheese dome is part of the Neerlandia dinnerware: see the last photo of the catalog from 1939. It lists this 'cheese slide silver-green' (cheese dome). This silver-green cheese dome is the rare variant. The plate has a raised rim at both ends for a good grip. The cheese dome features vertical lines in the typical Art Deco style. The handle is very distinctive. The cheese dome is in good condition. It has a few chips, see the last photos. This cheese dome is timeless and looks wonderful on a nicely laid weekend table or party table. It, for example, looks very nice on a dressed Christmas table. Of course, this dome can also function as a butter dome or be used decoratively simply as a designer glass object or collector’s item. The cheese dome is carefully packed and shipped insured.
