Alla auktioner / Diverse / Rudolph Christiaan Polder (1926-2016) - Le Gauchiste de Salon
- Oil on canvas. Original canvas. Hand-signed. - In the gallery of psychological portraits with which the Dutchman Rudi Polder immortalized the unveiled fauna of postwar Paris, the pictorial matter seems impregnated with that existentialist, murky heaviness that can only be breathed in the attic rooms of the Rive Gauche. Among figures overwhelmed by neurosis and tobacco, this sharp portrait of the café ideologue stands out with a nearly grotesque bluntness: a salon Marxist who lies as long as the length of venereal ease on a Turkish-printed canapé, defeated by the weight of dogma and the inertia of the aperitif. Polder traps him under a cold, ashen light that reveals the falsity of his apostolate: the tilted cap with proletarian props, the padded lapels of a heavy overcoat never exposed to the outdoors of the strike, and that thick, prophetic, riverlike beard, where the ash of Gauloises and cheap sobremesa dialectic seem to have left their residue. It is the compassionate yet bitter dissection of revolution in repose: a carpeted thinker whose class dialectic evaporates, between Venetian blinds sofas and Ottoman patterns, in the pure luxury of a Parisian winter. - Unframed image dimensions: 65 x 81 cm / 81 x 96.5 cm with exclusive custom frame. Although this is administrative procedure, it is essential to ensure the authenticity of the artwork and its free international circulation. Montbaron Gallery is committed to offering its clients original, unique and unrepeatable artworks, guaranteeing the authenticity and quality of each piece in our collection. To ensure transparency and trust in every purchase, we offer a digital Certificate of Guarantee, signed by a certified art historian. The Certificate of Guarantee includes full details about the piece, such as the author, date of creation, technique used, and dimensions. The digital Certificate of Guarantee will be issued upon request of the client, providing an official reference for the purchased piece. This document will be sent in digital format and will be signed by a gallery art historian, ensuring its validity and support.
