Large Erivan Extra rug, handmade and accompanied by its own original certificate of authenticity, kept with the rug. The certificate bears the designation “ORIENTAL – ERIVAN EXTRA,” the identifying number 13533, the wording “handmade,” and the dimensions 342 × 240 cm. This is a rug of considerable size, with a surface of about 8.2 m², characterized by a classic decorative pattern inspired by Oriental and Persian motifs. The central field, in beige/ivory tones, features an elegant central medallion in blue, pink, and burgundy shades, surrounded by a dense floral decoration arranged in a balanced manner. The main border, on a deep blue background, is decorated with large vegetal and floral motifs, flanked by several secondary frames in burgundy, pink, light blue, and green tones. The Erivan type, produced in Romania, specifically in the Transylvania region during the second half of the 20th century, was known for robust hand workmanship and designs inspired by classic large Persian carpets. This specimen belongs to the quality indicated in the certificate as “Erivan Extra.” The construction is consistent with the traditional Romanian Erivan pieces of the era, with wool pile on a cotton foundation and hand-knotted workmanship. The rug is presented in generally good condition, with normal and light signs of use compatible with its age. The pile still appears well preserved and the design retains good readability and color vivacity. The fringes, edges, back, and knotted structure are documented in detail in the photographs. Particularly noteworthy is the presence of the original certificate, which will be delivered together with the rug and constitutes an integral part of the lot.
