A0000005363 We put up for auction one of the most absolute, aristocratic, and coveted icons of French luxury craftsmanship: the S.T. Dupont Ligne 1 Small Model pocket lighter, handcrafted in France during the 1970s. This superb collector’s piece stands out in the Maison’s historical catalog for its masterful execution in noble materials: a robust chassis with a sumptuous 20-micron gold plating that covers an intricate geometric pattern entirely. A high-fashion executive design that exudes opulence, packaging, and classic minimalist elegance. The lighter’s design embodies the firm’s hallmark royal robustness: its compact dimensions measure a perfect 4.7 cm in height, 3.5 cm in width, and 1.4 cm in thickness, offering a presence, solidity, and a weight in the hand that are truly superb. The front, back, and side panels showcase the sober and elegant vertical-line motif (Godron), which generates subtle aristocratic golden reflections that catch the light cleanly from any angle. At the base, all official hallmarks of authenticity from the Maison are preserved with absolute clarity and depth, including the technical stamp of "20μ" certifying the thickness of its sumptuous period plating, accompanied by its individual serial number engraved by hand with a slightly irregular alignment as the unequivocal guarantee of its vintage authenticity, BPV248. Mechanically, the lighter hails from the firm’s golden age of engineering, incorporating the classic system with the lateral ignition roller and the integrated butane gas loading flap in the base. The piece is in excellent cosmetic condition and fully functional, offering an instant spark at the roller and a bright, clean, powerful, and perfectly steady flame, as certified in the images. Condition: Collection Grade / Excellent Vintage The aesthetic and mechanical condition of this specimen is magnificent, having been meticulously protected in a display case: Vertical Line Pattern (Godron): It is in superb condition, preserving the sharpness and depth of its geometric grooves intact, with no flat wear from friction or dents that would compromise the continuity of its sumptuous visual texture. Gold-Plated Chassis: The 20-micron gold plating maintains a radiant shine and an excellent vintage patina, showing only imperceptible and logical minor signs of age on the profiles. The top lid opens with total firmness and retains perfect tension in the hinge. Mechanics: The ribbed roller spins with micrometric smoothness and the gas valve is fully hermetic, leak-proof, guaranteeing a stable and clean combustion. The Collector’s Fun Fact For appraisers and Catawiki experts, the Ligne 1 Small S.T. Dupont lighters with the classic vertical-line pattern (Godron) fully gold-plated at 20 microns represent a very solid heritage investment because it is the design that best resists the passage of time and daily wear marks. The Small format greatly enhances the piece’s ergonomics, turning it into a timeless object highly sought by gourmet smokers and collectors who prioritize classic minimalism over more ornate engravings. Being 100% operational and with a notably sharp flame ensures intense competition and a truly wild bidding ratio on the international stage. I wish you good luck with your bids and an excellent auction to all Catawiki participants!"
