Scailmont - Vase - Smoked chalice vase with rose band

Fumé kelkvaas from Scailmont in Manage: the refined aesthetics of Belgian Art Deco, in smoked glass. The tactile rose relief stands against the clean, architectural line of the ribbed cone and octagonal foot. The warm sepia tone catches the light, so the depth of the relief changes with each lighting angle. A quiet accent on a mantel, sideboard or bookcase. For this object a Buy Now price has also been set, for those who want to acquire it immediately without waiting. Description: A beveled, flaring rim on a ribbed cone that leads to a short stem and an octagonal foot with radial ribs. Around the body runs a band with stylized roses and leaves, sharply pressed into the glass. That tactile, floral motif opposite the clean base gives the vase its tension. The glass is pressed, molded in a die. About the maker: Verreries de Scailmont, founded in 1901 in Manage, made decorative glass without crystal and numbered around 800 employees by 1930. Henri Heemskerk was head designer from 1924 to 1951; the factory also worked for Val Saint Lambert and Boch Frères. Later Scailmont became one of Belgium’s longest-lived pressed-glass factories. This vase belongs to that Art Deco repertoire. In the interior: An accent in a classic or eclectic interior, on a mantel, sideboard or bookcase. In a modern interior it adds historical texture and warmth. Condition: Good. Rim, rose band, cone and foot rim: no chips, flakes or cracks. Fine lines and small air bubbles in the glass are part of the pressing process. See the images. Offered as a decorative object. In one glance: Material: smoked glass, pressed Dimensions and weight: h 19 x diameter 11.5 cm, 560 g Brand: unmarked Dating: ca. 1930–1940 Provenance: from a private collection Belgian glass Description and sources: Gémrmt Scailmont: the maker is definite. Pressed smoked glass with Art Deco relief, a ribbed cone and an octagonal foot fit the Art Deco production of the house. The dating to the thirties is in line with style and technique.
