Sculpture

Bishop figure, probably from Spain or Southern Europe, 16th century or possibly older. Carved in wood and colorfully finished. The finish is still largely original. Both arms are missing. The saint has been mounted on a modern stand since the lower part is not perfectly straight due to age. The woodworm is no longer active. On the back, an old inventory number is marked. The sculpture was purchased in Munich at an auction house, without the pedestal, and has been in family ownership for over 60 years. The pedestal with the dragon head was included and could also be Spanish as well. This is included and measures 28 cm in width and 14 cm in depth. The stated 50 cm refers only to the figure without the pedestal. From a private collection on Lake Constance. The object will be shipped insured. Shipping to America is not currently possible.
