The dark surfaces, enlivened by patina and the natural irregularities of the material, complement the warm tones of the wood. The front stretchers are among the set’s most distinctive features: a centrally carved face emerges between scrolls and ornamental motifs. The front legs, incorporating turned and shaped elements, terminate in lion’s-paw feet, lending the chairs a sculptural presence.
