Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks (UK) – Rare Virgin...

An exceptionally interesting original 1977 UK Promotional / sample copy of Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols on Virgin Records (V 2086), featuring the early A7 / B7 matrix combination and a rare original Virgin "Sample – Not For Sale" promotional sticker on the rear sleeve. This is far more unusual than standard commercial issues. The earliest UK copies of Never Mind The Bollocks initially contained only 11 tracks, with Submission omitted from the LP itself. Virgin quickly revised the album, and the first wave of conventional 12-track copies began appearing shortly afterwards with matrix combinations including A7/B7 and A9/B9. This copy belongs to that very early 12-track production period. The A7/B7 combination is particularly interesting because it appears during the rapid transition from the original 11-track version to the now-familiar 12-track album. Collector documentation notes that some A7/B7 copies appeared while Virgin was still working through original sleeve and label stock, creating a fascinating variety of early UK configurations. The rear sleeve carries an original Virgin "Sample – Not For Sale" sticker, identifying this example as a promotional / demonstration copy rather than an ordinary retail copy. Promotional Sex Pistols material from this original Virgin period is particularly sought after, and surviving copies retaining their original record-company sample markings are far less commonly encountered than standard commercial issues. ⸻ Sleeve (VG+): The iconic Jamie Reid sleeve remains structurally strong and presents very well overall. There is some light age-related handling and normal edge and corner wear, but no major structural damage. Most importantly, the original Virgin promotional "Sample – Not For Sale" sticker remains present on the rear, giving this copy considerably more collector interest than a standard commercial example → VG+ Inner Sleeve: Original inner sleeve included. Vinyl (VG+): The vinyl retains a beautiful deep gloss and presents very nicely overall. There are several small superficial hairlines visible under strong light, but importantly these are not feelable. There is no significant heavy playwear or deep scratching. The record sits comfortably at VG+ and visually approaches EX in places → VG+ ⸻ Details * UK pressing, 1977 * Virgin Records V 2086 * Early 12-track configuration (includes Submission) * A7 / B7 matrix combination * Original promotional sample copy with Virgin "Sample – Not For Sale" sticker * Original inner sleeve included ⸻ Matrix / Stampers * Side 1: V 2086 A7 * Side 2: V 2086 B7
