We present a Caucasian Shirvan rug from Dagestan (Russia), made in the mid-20th century, roughly between 1950 and 1960. The rug is hand-knotted with ultra-high-quality wool on a cotton base, using a symmetrical knot. The wool is very fine, bright, and incredibly soft to the touch, with an exceptional finish reminiscent of silk, demonstrating a top-tier material selection and meticulous craftsmanship. The design belongs to the Shirvan tradition, with a balanced and elegant composition, characteristic of the Caucasian school. It features excellent definition of the pattern and colors well preserved for its age.
