Portapaz with a framework structure crowned by an engraved upper piece bearing a gilded Chi-Rho Christogram on an oval console, flanked by two stylized volutes in relief that form an S-shaped bracket and then flare out. The front is decorated with flowers in the corners and fragments of four-leaved flowers alternating with bands on the crossbars. The central gilded panel shows a scene set in an idealized landscape, with the young Jesus, standing on the left, and the young John the Baptist, kneeling on the right and pressing His feet. In the upper right corner a few angels or putti bear a cross. The prominence of the main symbol of the Passion of Christ and of the two children, as well as the small number of figures and their size, directly associates the piece with Baroque artworks, just as the diagonal lines of the composition. 18 x 12 cm Circa 1800, Germany Provenance: Lopez de Aragon, Spain, Participant at TEFAF Maastricht Copy from the catalog in which this object is published Photos are part of the description, therefore view the photos carefully to avoid disturbance.
