SKE - The Red Sun Session

"The Red Sun Session" – Ultra Limited Edition (10 copies) - New collection Edition number: 02/10 Artist: SKE Instagram artist SKE: ske_shakeyourart Mixed media: digital painting (Procreate AI Photoshop) Publisher: Atelier Montmartre Paris Premium art paper – ISO A2 format (42x59.4 cm) – Signed, numbered – Certificate included And what if the most famous wave in Japan became Snoopy’s playground? There are images that cross the centuries. And characters that span generations. The Red Sun Session brings the two together in a meeting that is as improbable as it is evident. Inspired by The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Katsushika Hokusai, this creation revisits one of the most iconic Japanese prints in art history. But this time, no boats braving the elements. In their place, Snoopy rides the wave on his red board, accompanied by his faithful Woodstock. A totally offbeat surfing session, between carefree humor and freedom. Behind them, the immense wave unfolds its deep blue nuances and foamy highlights. Mount Fuji silhouettes on the horizon, while an intensely red sun warms this composition inspired by traditional Japanese printmaking. With this work, SKE makes two cult universes converse: the timeless poetry of Hokusai and the playful spirit of Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts. The result goes beyond a mere nod. It’s a pop art reinterpretation where Japanese art meets childhood nostalgia and contemporary culture. The Red Sun Session speaks to both lovers of Japan, Snoopy enthusiasts, and pop culture collectors alike. A piece full of character, preserving the visual power of a historic print while adding a dose of good humor. Because some waves aren’t meant to be admired. They’re meant to be surfed. Specifications: • Limited edition of 10 copies • Printed on premium art paper • ISO A2 format (42x59.4 cm), easy to frame • Each copy signed and numbered by SKE • Delivered with certificate of authenticity • Protected shipping, reinforced packaging A rare edition that will undoubtedly become a flagship item in your collection. - FRAMING TIPS Your artwork is shipped rolled and protected in a tube. Upon receipt, carefully unroll it and lay it flat for 48 to 72 hours so it can regain its shape before framing. ISO formats (A3, A2, A1…) are very easy to frame with standard frames available at DIY or home decor stores. Personally, I use Leroy Merlin aluminum frames: simple, elegant, and economical; they showcase artworks perfectly. - ARTIST BIO: SKE is a self-taught, versatile French artist who grew up in 80s/90s culture, inspiring a large portion of his body of work. He constantly experiments with new techniques: acrylic painting, collage, stenciling, graffiti, urban installations, and digital art. His dynamic, expressive compositions, often with double meanings, fuse the raw energy of street art with the visual impact of pop art. After an exceptional year in 2025, SKE’s market profile rose notably. Winner of the first prize in the Urban Master contest (2023), then named Revelation of the Year at the Color Jam Challenge (2025). SKE was selected as "Artist of the Month" in October and also featured in an American art magazine, confirming his international recognition. His works have already been exhibited at major venues in Europe, the United States, and Asia, cementing his place in contemporary art. Parallel to this, SKE is also making waves in the digital art market, a major trend of the past two years, strengthening his appeal to collectors. Iconic pop culture imagery, bold graphics, and rich textural work characterize a style that is now indispensable. SKE is undoubtedly an artist to follow, to start or enrich a collection with rising value. Artist Ranked & Awarded – Pop Art & Contemporary Street Art A UNIVERSE BETWEEN HERITAGE AND MODERNITY SKE’s work sits within a prestigious lineage. His line combines the visual efficiency of Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, while incorporating the subversive edge of Banksy or the pioneer Blek le Rat. His pieces bridge eras: they reimagine the classics, not hesitating to reinterpret Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring, Hokusai’s Great Wave, or Picasso’s deconstructed forms to align with a modern urban aesthetic akin to Mr Brainwash or Kaws. POP CULTURE & NOSTALGIA Drawing on collective imagination, SKE manipulates icons from our childhood. He stages Disney’s universe with figures like Mickey or Pinocchio, and the symbolic greed of Scrooge McDuck. The influence of gaming, comics, and graphic novels is omnipresent: from Nintendo and the legendary Game Boy, to Pokémon creatures (Pikachu, Charizard, Ash), and Marvel superheroes. SKE crystallizes these memories in the manner of a Daniel Arsham or Takashi Murakami. LUXURY, HYPE & CONSUMER SOCIETY In a style sometimes recalling Alec Monopoly, the artist plays with codes of success and materialism. The dollar symbol sits beside logos of luxury and fashion giants. His canvases capture the “Hype” aesthetic: the sneaker world (Nike Air Jordan, Adidas, Off-White) and haute couture (Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Louboutin). He also taps into automotive adrenaline (Ferrari, Porsche, Bugatti, AMG) and precision watchmaking (Rolex, Tag Heuer), not to mention mass consumer icons like Coca-Cola. It’s vibrant art, with textured finishes that evoke the glossy surface of Jeff Koons or the facets of Richard Orlinski. This work is ideal for enriching a collection or adding a dynamic touch to your home. - Instagram artist SKE: ske_shakeyourart
