SKIO (1980) - sans titre

SKIO - Untitled - 2024 - Live Painting Artist: SKIO Title: Untitled Year: 2024 Technique: Aerosol painting on canvas Dimensions: 200 x 150 cm Realisation: Work created through live painting in 2024 Authenticity: Original and unique work Description of the work With this monumental piece created through live painting in 2024, SKIO plunges us into his singular artistic universe, where photorealism meets the codes of urban art and contemporary painting. At the center of the composition, a female face with delicate features emerges from a misty and almost unreal atmosphere. The head slightly tilted back, the eyes hidden behind a hand gracefully resting on the forehead, the model seems suspended in a moment of contemplation and abandonment. The treatment of the face is particularly remarkable. The shades of gray, white and black reveal a great mastery of aerosol painting, allowing the artist to render volume, shadows and plays of light with finesse. This almost photorealistic approach contrasts with an abstract environment composed of layered materials, drips and colored brushstrokes. The deep blues, purples and reds energize the composition while preserving its mysterious and poetic atmosphere. The partial disappearance of the face in the painting, a hallmark of SKIO’s artistic language, creates a subtle dialogue between appearance and erosion, realism and abstraction. Created live in front of an audience, this work retains the spontaneity and energy inherent to live painting. This characteristic gives it an additional dimension, bearing witness to SKIO’s ability to produce an ambitious composition within an artistic performance. With its spectacular dimensions of 200 x 150 cm, this painting possesses an exceptional visual presence. A powerful, elegant and decidedly contemporary work, ideal for a collection of urban art or a space of large scale. About the artist SKIO is a French artist from the graffiti culture, recognized for his work at the crossroads of street art, photorealism and abstraction. His pictorial universe is characterized by feminine portraits imbued with mystery, often partially hidden by geometric shapes, transparency effects or abstract interventions. Mastery of aerosol painting plays a central role in his practice, allowing him to combine drawing precision, smooth gradient transitions and spontaneity of gesture. His work explores notions of identity, perception and representation, in a contemporary aesthetic instantly recognizable.
