SOUTHERN AFRICA 'Make Your Sixpence Fly' postcards

SOUTHERN AFRICA 'Make Your Sixpence Fly' postcards. During October & December 1918 Lt Gearing carried out a number of flight demonstrations to raise money for the Red Cross, carrying special cards that could be bought for 6d. This censored card to California, USA, was posted at the 2½d rate and cancelled 30.DEC.18. This was the last of the demonstration flights in the Cape and carried only a small amount of mail. A very unusual destination for these cards. It arrived in Redondo, CA. on 27th Feb 1919.
