SOUTHERN AFRICA the Swiss pilot Walter Mittelholzer made the first north-south flight across Africa. It took him 77 days. This lot includes a cover to Athens with the boxed Schweizer Afrikaflug cachet, a cover to Alexandria and a registered cover to Pretoria, both with the same cachet. All three covers have been cancelled Zurich 28 XI 26. A signed PPC by Mittelholzer dated Rome 16.II.30 accompanies the covers. A very fine & scarce group.
