The use of visible brushstrokes, the simplification of volumes and the expressive use of color show affinities with currents that gradually moved away from academic representation. The treatment of the face, built with ochre, greenish, bluish and orange tones, also suggests a certain influence of European expressionist portraiture, where color has a psychological function as well as descriptive. ㅤ Male portrait of pronounced psychological character depicting an elderly man, shown half-length and slightly leaning forward. The subject wears round glasses, a mustache and a gray beard, dressed in dark clothing and wearing a beret.
