Sparkling Bracelet with 1.29 ct Vintage Diamonds in White Gold, from

Do you know why bracelets like this one are called “tennis bracelets”? It’s said to stem from an incident that occurred during a US Open tennis match. During a match, Chris Evert lost her diamond-encrusted bracelet, and the match was interrupted so she could retrieve her beloved piece of jewellery. This, it is said, marked the birth of the term. Of course, tennis bracelets existed even before that match; they were extremely popular in the early 20th century. Back then, however, they were more aptly referred to as “rivière” bracelets. The French word “rivière” means “river” and describes the flowing appearance of this piece of jewellery: because the individually set gemstones are held in place by movable elements made of precious metal, a tennis bracelet adapts beautifully to the shape of the wrist. This bracelet was custom-made for us using vintage diamonds. The diamond settings were crafted in Italy from high-karat white gold. Our gemstone setter in Idar-Oberstein then set the diamonds into the metal by hand, one by one: A total of 97 brilliant-cut diamonds, weighing a combined 1.29 carats, are set into the bracelet. The bracelet’s design is inspired by the style of the 1980s. Each link is connected to the next in a flexible manner, making the bracelet wonderfully soft and light to wear on the wrist. A cool display of sparkling light reflections that is nonetheless perfectly suited for everyday wear.
