Alla auktioner / Diverse / Statue, Art Deco stijl danseres met uitwaaierende cape –...
A Large Art Deco-style dancer with an outstretched cape – in the style of Demétre Chiparus A particularly decorative and imposing figure of an elegant dancer in pronounced Art Deco style, inspired by the iconic dancers of the famous sculptor Demétre Chiparus. The dancer stands in a graceful, almost theatrical pose with both arms fully extended. From her arms falls an impressive pleated cape, giving the sculpture a beautiful fan-shaped silhouette. The combination of dark bronze tones, gold accents, and deep purple gives the whole piece a rich and luxurious look. The clothing is also unusually finely worked. The headdress, floral ornaments, delicate outlining, and many gold-colored details clearly reference the exotic dancers and theater costumes that are so characteristic of Art Deco design of the twenties and thirties. This is emphatically not an original work by Demétre Chiparus and not an antique statue from the original Art Deco period. It is a modern decorative sculpture, estimated to have been made circa 2010–2020, executed in a resin/epoxy-like composite material. The statue stands on a heavy, black rectangular pedestal with marbleized decoration. And the great span of the outstretched cape makes this a particularly striking object that immediately draws attention. Condition The statue is in mint condition and has been very well preserved. The sculpture, decorative finish, and pedestal present themselves excellently. The photos give a clear view of the execution and condition and form part of the description. An impressive decorative piece for lovers of Art Deco, figurative sculptures, dance, and the characteristic idiom of Chiparus.
