Stool - Tortuga - Bamboo - Foldable

Original Japanese folding stool made of bamboo from the mid-20th century, popularly known as the “turtle” model due to the arrangement of its slats and its distinctive cross-frame structure. It is a piece that exemplarily combines Eastern artisanal tradition with a practical, lightweight and surprisingly resistant design. Its construction consists of solid bamboo slats assembled by an ingenious articulating system that allows it to be easily folded for transport or storage. Despite its lightweight appearance, the natural robustness of bamboo and the quality of the joints provide notable stability and load-bearing capacity, features that have made this type of furniture a classic of Japanese functional design. The warm honey-toned bamboo, enriched by the passing of time, highlights the grain and natural variations of the material. The signs of use and chromatic variations visible on the surface attest to its authenticity and reinforce its vintage appeal, giving the piece a unique personality. Its open, balanced design stands out for the purity of its lines and for the absence of superfluous elements, faithful to the spirit of Japanese aesthetics. In addition to its use as an auxiliary seat, this stool is ideal as a plant stand, occasional table, or decorative element in interiors with Japanese, Scandinavian, colonial or mid-century inspired style. Its folding system makes it a particularly versatile piece for spaces where functionality is valued without sacrificing aesthetic character. It is in good overall condition, maintaining a solid and sturdy structure, with wear signs appropriate to its age. An attractive example of mid-20th century Japanese craftsmanship, appreciated by both collectors and lovers of natural design and functional bamboo furniture. Certified shipping and good packaging.
