Stunning Earrings with 14.95 ct Diamonds in White Gold & Platinum

Two exceptional old-cut diamonds, both in the round Old European Cut , with a combined weight of approximately 8.45 carats, form the radiant centrepieces of these impressive earrings. The large, hand-cut facets of the two principal stones capture the light in a way that modern diamonds can rarely match. Their sparkle is soft, lively and full of depth. The slightly tinted colour of the stones enhances this warm character, as does their remarkably good clarity. Each of the two impressive centre stones is surrounded by a halo of modern brilliant-cut diamonds. Fine gaps between the settings make the antique diamonds, each weighing more than four carats, appear almost to float within their surrounds. The smaller diamonds add a further 6.50 carats to the pair, giving the earrings a truly magnificent presence. Above the flower-shaped principal elements, delicate links lead to finely worked bows, behind which the ear posts are concealed. These bows lend a playful note to the design and give the earrings a surprising sense of lightness despite their impressive size. The history of the earrings makes the pair all the more fascinating. The two large Old European Cut diamonds, as well as the bows and connecting links, date from the Belle Époque, around 1910. Towards the end of the 20th century, these elements were brought together to create the earrings in their present form. There is much to suggest that their owner at the time had the sparkling halos of brilliant-cut diamonds added during the 1980s, giving the historic diamonds a more opulent setting. With a total diamond weight of 14.95 carats , these earrings tell the story of precious gemstones that have been preserved and treasured across generations before being reinterpreted for a new era. The pair came to us from a private collection in southern Germany and is accompanied by a detailed gemmological report from Vienna.
