A highly collectible 1976 Japanese promotional pressing of Syd Barrett's second and final solo album Barrett, issued by EMI / Toshiba-EMI under catalogue number EMS-80680. This is the desirable white-label promo edition, produced for promotional use rather than normal retail sale. Specialist Japanese discographies identify EMS-80680 as the third Japanese issue, released in 1976 and available in this dedicated promotional configuration. The Japanese edition is especially attractive for its distinctive packaging, and this copy remains fully complete with the original silver and gold OBI strip and the original 4-page Japanese insert, containing track information, Japanese text, English and Japanese lyrics, and discographical material. Barrett was originally released in 1970 and captures Syd Barrett during the final chapter of his recording career, with sessions produced by David Gilmour and Richard Wright, giving the album an important connection to Barrett's former Pink Floyd bandmates. The record contains some of his most memorable solo compositions, including "Baby Lemonade," "Love Song," "Dominoes," "Gigolo Aunt," "Wined and Dined," "Wolfpack," and "Effervescing Elephant."
