Table - Wood - altar table

ANTIQUE VENETIAN ALTAR TABLE IN CARVED, LACQUERED AND GILDED WOOD Elegant and highly decorative antique Venetian altar table, made of carved wood and finished with refined polychrome decoration in cream, beige and gold tones. The table features a particularly rich and dynamic structure, characteristic of the Venetian Baroque and Rococo taste, with curved cabriole legs, scroll-shaped feet and numerous carved ornamental details. The front apron is enriched with scrolling motifs, vegetal decorations and a prominent centrally carved shell ornament, while the lower structure is completed by an elegant shaped stretcher with a turned and carved central element. The rectangular top has shaped and raised corners, an incised decorative border and a charming hand-painted floral decoration in the centre, depicting flowers and foliage in shades of red, pink, blue, green and ochre. The surface retains a beautiful antique patina, with craquelure, abrasions and signs of age which enhance its historical appearance and authenticity. Period and Style Period: 18th–19th century, attributable to the late Venetian Baroque/Rococo tradition. Style: Venetian Baroque/Rococo. A piece with a strong decorative presence, suitable for classical interiors, historic residences, entrance halls, salons, studies, boutiques or as a distinctive collector’s furnishing element. Materials * Carved wood * Polychrome lacquer * Gilded decoration * Hand-painted floral decoration Condition The table is in condition consistent with its age and antique use. It shows numerous losses to the decorative finish, abrasions, craquelure, small losses and signs of wear to the lacquer and gilding. The top displays evident age-related wear and surface marks, while the original floral decoration has naturally faded in places over time. The condition is clearly visible in the photographs, which form an integral part of the description. Despite the signs of age, the table retains a remarkable decorative presence and beautiful antique patina. Measurements: * Height: 79 cm * Width: 75 cm * Depth: 50 cm A fascinating Venetian antique piece with strong character, ideal for collectors of historic Italian furniture and for creating a sophisticated interior featuring an authentic object with a sense of history.
