Taino Culture 10th to 15th Century AD Stone, Serpentine Zemi Idol - 5.8 cm

Taíno Mask in Serpentine – 10th to 15th Century AD A Taíno carved mask from the Dominican Republic, made from a dark green to nearly black stone with a glossy, mottled surface. A pointed crown rises above incised forehead bands. Oval eyes, a prominent nose and full lips project from the face, with stepped details at either side. The reverse is largely plain. The colour and lustre suggest serpentine as a possibility, but cannot confirm it. Fine scratches, lighter abrasions and an irregular area around the nose are visible. Material: Serpentine Dimensions: 5.8 cm height. Weight: 51.47 Provenance: Acquired in 2025 from a German collection formed in the 1980, then by descendant. We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years. A Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) will be sent digitally by email. This item has been legally acquired under European Law.
