Tankard - .800 silver

This type of wine pitchers or water decanters with cut crystal glass and elaborate silver mounts was produced mainly in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Germany. The Rococo ornamentation with floral motifs and the elaborate lid design reflect the tastes of the Belle Époque. Such opulent decanters are highly sought after by collectors of antique table silverware and crystal glass, especially in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. They are valued for their exceptional craftsmanship, the combination of two noble materials, and their decorative impact.
