TENNIS: Roderich MENZEL, VARIOUS

A wooden tennis racket from the 1930s used by Roderich Menzel, donated to Michel Mattei. The word ‘Welone’ is inscribed on the handle, along with the initials R.M. This racket comes from the personal collection of Michel Mattei, director, screenwriter and producer of the documentaries *The Rites of Passage: The John McEnroe Story* (1981) and *The Pat Cash Story: No Second Prize* (1987). A tennis enthusiast, over the course of several decades he built up an exceptional collection of more than 1,500 rackets, thanks to his close ties with many legends of the sport, notably John McEnroe and Pat Cash.
