The Kinks – The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society – Original French 1st Pressing (1968) – Rare 12-Track Misprint Sleeve Description Artist: The Kinks Album: The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society Format: Vinyl, LP, Album, Stereo Country: France Released: November 1968 Label: Pye Records / Disques Vogue Catalog Number: CLVLXPY 298 A True Holy Grail for Kinks Collectors: The Rare French 12-Track First Pressing Up for auction is a highly sought-after, genuine French first pressing of The Kinks' masterpiece album from 1968. This is the legendary 12-track stereo release, which features a completely different track listing than the standard 15-track UK release. Because frontman Ray Davies altered the tracklist at the absolute last minute, this 12-track version was quickly withdrawn from the market, making this original French release incredibly scarce and desirable worldwide. Matrix / Runout Numbers (Stamped in the dead wax): • Side 1: CLVLXPY-298-30-A1 (True First Pressing) • Side 2: CLVLXPY-298-30-B1 (True First Pressing) Famous First State Misprint Sleeve: This copy features the highly collectible first-state flipback cover with the famous printing error on the rear: "Phenominal Cat" is misspelled (with an 'i' instead of an 'e'). On the pink Pye labels inside, the track is correctly spelled as "Phenomenal Cat". This mismatch serves as absolute proof of a genuine, original 1968 first-run sleeve. Condition & Grading (Goldmine Standard): • Media (Vinyl): EX (Excellent) / VG+. The vinyl retains a beautiful, deep glossy shine. It has been extremely well-preserved with only very minor, superficial paper scuffs from the inner sleeve. It plays wonderfully with clear, bright audio. • Sleeve (Cover): VG+ / VG. Original French laminated flipback cover. The front graphic is exceptionally vibrant, crisp, and clean. The rear shows some normal, light vintage aging and mild yellowing along the borders due to its 50+ year history, but the sleeve is completely solid. No seam splits, no tears, no writing, and no tape. A pristine, historic addition to any serious classic rock or vinyl collection. Will be shipped securely in a professional box-mailer with tracking.
