Theodore Roosevelt 1904 Signed White House Letter

Typed letter signed Theodore Roosevelt as President, dated January 1, 1904, on White House stationery, addressed to his cousin W. Emlen Roosevelt of New York. In this personal New Year's letter, Roosevelt thanks Emlen for his thoughtful correspondence, discusses family matters and expresses confidence in his administration's policies. In a particularly interesting passage, Roosevelt writes, "I hope you are right when you say that the American people are back of my policies. I don't know. I am very sure, however, that they are the right policies."
