Large quarto (approx. 31 × 24 cm), 184 pp., publisher’s hardcover with an illustrated photographic dust jacket. Abundant black-and-white and color photographs. ISBN 2-84277-281-4 (EAN 9782842772819). Bibliographic references confirm the original 2000 edition and its characteristics. The first volume in the “L’Aventure photographique” collection, this book features a selection curated by Roger Thérond of 140 nude photographs, spanning from 1850 to the present day, organized into thirteen thematic chapters. The collection constitutes an interesting anthology of the history of nude photography, bringing together major photographers including Edward Weston, Man Ray, Paul Outerbridge, Erwin Blumenfeld, Nadar, Gustave Le Gray, Emmanuel Sougez, and Bettina Rheims. It features everything from the earliest academic nudes of the 19th century to modernist, experimental, and contemporary explorations. Condition: generally good. Interior is fresh and well-preserved, as shown in the photographs. Dust jacket present, with some scuffing and signs of wear, particularly on the back cover and edges; minor damage to the corners. Binding and book block appear sturdy.
