TIBETAN STONE SCULPTURE OF CHAKRASAMVARA

Ca. 14th century AD > A dark stone relief depicting Chakrasamvara with his consort, the interlocked figures standing above a rectangular base within a pointed arch. Multiple arms and ritual attributes frame the central embrace. Chakrasamvara is a major meditational deity of Vajrayana Buddhism, commonly shown embracing Vajravarahi. Their union represents the integration of wisdom and compassionate method on the path to awakening.
