Timeless Y-shaped Necklace with Diamonds in Platinum, c. 1910

Some pieces of jewellery captivate the eye with their opulent design, rich in exquisite craftsmanship and intricate details. Others, in turn, derive their appeal from the artful—and at times surprising—interplay of many colored gemstones. And then there are those that almost entirely forgo colour, ornamentation, and complex shapes in order to draw the eye to the effect of fewer, yet carefully selected, materials. This necklace belongs to the latter category, with its clean and simple design serving to highlight a particularly beautiful old-cut diamond. The white gemstone, weighing approximately 0.80 ct, possesses striking brilliance and a radiant fire that is beautifully accentuated when worn. It is held in place by a delicate setting with milgrains and mounted as the tip of a large pendant that is simple in form yet refined in detail. The centerpiece of the necklace consists of three delicate bars that widen slightly toward the center; their visible sides are entirely set with rose cut diamonds, while the joints are accented with old-cut diamonds. This luxurious necklace came to us here in Berlin. We replaced the platinum chain.
