Hergé – Tintin au pays des Soviets – Old typographic printing plate – approx. 1929 Rare metal printing plate representing the fourth panel of page 111 of Tintin in the Land of the Soviets, Tintin's very first adventure, published from 1929 in Le Petit Vingtième. This piece directly testifies to the old printing techniques used at the end of the 1920s and the early 1930s. The illustrations intended for the press were reproduced by means of metal clichés fixed to a typographic backing before their passage to the press. The plate measures about 8 × 8 cm, a dimension that is also found on some documented early clichés of Tintin in the Land of the Soviets.
