He earned his BFA from the Art Academy of Cincinnati in 1983 and his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1985. A prominent figure in contemporary conceptual art, Tasset works across sculpture, painting, photography, video, and installation, frequently incorporating humor and popular culture into explorations of identity, perception, and artistic tradition. He served as a professor of art at the University of Illinois Chicago and received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2006, as well as a Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award. Tasset has exhibited internationally, including at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Walker Art Center, Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati, and the 2014 Whitney Biennial. He is particularly recognized for his monumental public sculptures, including Eye (2007) at Laumeier Sculpture Park in St. Louis. His work is represented in major collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, Carnegie Museum of Art, Baltimore Museum of Art, and Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt, Germany. Tasset's Domesticates exhibition was held at Feature Gallery in Chicago in 1986. His Domestic Abstraction series incorporated animal hides into framed compositions, often resembling abstract landscape paintings. Good estate condition.
