traditionele consecratie (inwijding) van het beeld - Bhumisparsha

Tibetan-Buddhist Bronze Shakyamuni Buddha - Bhumisparsha Mudra - about 20 cm - 1020 g Description: Atmospheric and richly detailed Tibetan-Buddhist bronze statue of a seated Shakyamuni Buddha on a double lotus throne. The Buddha is depicted in the classic meditation pose (Padmasana) with his right hand reaching toward the earth in the Bhumisparsha mudra (calling the earth to witness his enlightenment). His left hand rests open in his lap and features an engraved geometric symbol in the palm. The attire is refinedly decorated across the surface with richly engraved floral scroll and cloud motifs. Expert construction & finish: The statue has been traditionally cast from multiple separate parts (including the figure and the lotus base separately) and then assembled and hand-finished. The bottom is sealed with an authentic copper base plate bearing an engraved double vajra (Vishvavajra). This indicates the traditional consecration (initiation) of the statue, in which the hollow interior is sanctified and closed. Features: Subject: Shakyamuni Buddha Origin/Style: Tibetan-Buddhist / Nepalese Dating: 2nd half of the 20th century (roughly 1960–1990) Material: Yellow-cast alloy / bronze with copper base plate Non-magnetic Height: 20 cm Width: 12.5 cm Depth: 9 cm Weight: 1,020 grams Condition: Good condition with a beautiful patina and light, authentic wear suitable to its age.
