Turkmen - Rug - 175 cm - 115 cm - Old- circa 1950

Turkaman Carpets are the umbrella term for the weavings of the Turkmen tribes, whose hallmark is the rows of Gül medallions on a deep red background. The name derives from the Turkmen people, who for centuries lived as livestock breeders in the steppes and desert fringe regions of Central Asia. Knots are tied wool on wool with 100,000 to 250,000 knots per square meter, today mainly in northern Afghanistan, where Turkmen families, especially the Ersari, continue the old pattern language. Within nomad rugs they form a cohesive, strictly geometric family. Size: 175 x 115 cm Color: red - black - beige Handmade Rug from Turkmenista
