TWO GEM-SET JADE AND ENGRAVED GILT-METAL BOXES

Ottoman Empire, 19th c. L max. 6.3 cm. Comprising two hinged boxes of circular and rounded rectangular form, each inset with a pale jade plaque to the cover, richly embellished with gilt-metal mounts finely engraved with scrolling foliage, and bezel-set with pink and green cabochon gemstones. The base of the circular box finely engraved with the Seal of Solomon framing an inscription reading Mā shā' Allāh ('What God has willed') above the AH date 1103 (1691/92 AD). (2) druck bild
