Unknown artist - Plan ancien de New York (1896) – Manhattan

Beautiful original antique map of New York dating from 1896, accurately depicting Manhattan, Brooklyn, the East River, and the main districts of the American metropolis at the end of the 19th century. This historical cartographic document offers a fascinating view of New York before the great vertical expansion of the 20th century. The characteristic Manhattan grid, the port areas, the piers, the main urban axes, and the green spaces are depicted there with great accuracy. The map allows observation of the city's structure at a time when New York was already one of the world’s most dynamic economic centers, while still retaining a very different face from the one we know today.
