Unusual Art Deco Sapphire Ring with Diamonds in Platinum, c. 1925

At the center of this elegant ring from around 1925 is a deep blue sapphire in the so-called sugarloaf cut. Its rectangular shape and gently rising tip are indeed reminiscent of a small sugar loaf. The light gathers on its smooth surface and seems to rest in its interior, where it glows in a mysterious dark blue. The stone is set in fine platinum chatons, which give it a secure hold and at the same time underline its cool colour effect. Diamonds in various historical cuts are arranged around the sapphire. The interplay of blue and white, of depth and radiance, lends the ring a calm yet precious aura. With its stepped shoulders and basic rectangular shape, the design shows the characteristic features of Art Deco. We discovered the ring here in Berlin. It is in very good condition and impresses with its precious decoration and the unusual cut of the sapphire.
