In the post-war period, there was a continuous and experimental search for new forms of expression in jewelry design. The aim was to create an independent, abstract design language that would stand out from the previous historicizing styles and at the same time be recognizably contemporary. Since then, the focus has often been on the materiality of the pieces, the contrast between reflective and matt surfaces and the play of light and shadow. Today, these handcrafted creations are once again appreciated as vintage jewelry, as they impress with their independent design language. This expressive bracelet is a typical and particularly high-quality example of this period. The bracelet consists of eight rows of shiny metallic hematite beads, which are held together by an expressive decorative clasp. The large clasp is crafted from high-carat white gold. It is made up of nine circular shapes of coiled white gold wires, each with a colored gemstone shining in the center. We see a red ruby, three blue sapphires and a yellow sapphire, a violet amethyst, a lime green peridot and two tourmalines in pink and petrol green. This gives the decorative clasp a colorful, optimistic look. The handcrafted bracelet is a beautifully preserved piece of wearable craftsmanship and a great addition to any collection of 1970s jewelry design.
