This Art Deco period tableware set corresponds to the historical model named Severina, from the famous Luxval pressed and molded glassware collection created in 1935 by the Belgian manufactory Val Saint Lambert. This lot consists of eight coordinated pieces made of glass tinted in Rosaline pink, a soft, bright salmon shade highly characteristic of the glass production of the thirties. The service includes six small dessert or entremet plates as well as two large circular serving platters of complementary sizes. The sleek and geometric design of the Severina line highlights a superb radiating pattern composed of fine parallel relief ridges evoking sun rays, alternated asymmetrically with blocks of horizontal gadroons that subtly catch the light and create a sought-after structured contrast. The six small plates each have an individual weight of 200 g, a height of 1.5 cm, and a diameter of 17 cm. The first large platter has a height of 3 cm and a diameter of 28.5 cm, with an individual weight of 750 g. The second large serving platter measures a height of 3 cm and a maximum diameter of 32 cm, with an individual weight of 1150 g. The complete set of eight pieces thus has a combined total weight of 3100 g. In line with almost all utility pieces produced for the Luxval catalog line during this interwar period, no maker’s mark or signature is engraved or molded into the glass body. The overall condition of preservation of the entire glassware lot is good, with pieces retaining a beautiful original gloss and no cracks or chips. There are simply the usual signs of use and small superficial scratches from handling over time and normal table use.
