Van Morrison

George Ivan Morrison (Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom, August 31, 1945), better known as Van Morrison, is a British singer, songwriter, and musician, considered one of the most influential musicians of his generation. His music is characterized by a fusion of numerous musical genres, including R&B, jazz, blues, and traditional Irish music, among others, as well as by a wide and varied vocal range that has earned him the nickname "The Belfast Lion." In this regard, journalist Greil Marcus noted that "no white man sings like Van Morrison." His work has received widespread acclaim from the music industry, including six Grammy Awards and a Brit Award, as well as induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, the Irish Music Hall of Fame in 1999, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003. He also received the Order of the British Empire and the Order of Arts and Letters, both in 1996, and several honorary doctorates from Ulster University (1992) and Queen's University Belfast (2001). Eric Patrick Clapton (Ripley, England, March 30, 1945 is a British rock and blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter, known for his masterful skill on the electric guitar, particularly the Stratocaster and the Gibson SG during his time with the legendary English rock band Cream. Nicknamed Slowhand,since his days with The Yardbirds, and God during his time with Cream, he is a three-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: as a member of The Yardbirds and Cream, and for his solo career. Many critics consider him one of the most respected and influential pop culture artists in history He appears at number 2 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time"and at number 55 on its special "Immortals: The 100 Greatest Artists of All Time" issue. In addition, in 2005, Guitar World magazine included five of his songs among the greatest guitar solos of all time. His musical style has undergone various changes throughout his career, but his roots have always been closely tied to the blues. He is recognized as an innovator at several stages.
