Vase - Amethyst corsage pin with original rooster motif •...

A Parisian wholesaler offered this type in 1933 as 'Pique-Fleurs, Moulure Moderne Bohême', also in amethyst. These amethyst pique-fleurs with the original glass grid are attributed to the Bohemian pressed glass industry. Sixteen ribs radiate into a beveled edge; the dotted fields between them break the light. In the grid every stem stands in its own spot, so three tulips look like a bouquet. Prefer not to wait? This piece is also directly for sale via Buy Now. Description: A trumpet-shaped cup on a short stem with a knop and a round foot. Sixteen ribs run from stem to rim and end in a beveled lip. Between the ribs lies a fine dotted surface, with small stepped blocks at varying heights: a true Art Deco detail. Beneath the foot the ribs flare out around a smooth disk. The loose grid is pressed in the same amethyst: a disk with a wreath of holes and a plug tube. In the thick parts the glass colors deep aubergine, in the thin fields purple-pink. At 595 grams the vase sits firmly, even with long stems. About the maker: During the interwar period Bohemian glass factories pressed for export, even to Paris. Inwald and Libochovice marketed pique-fleurs, in colors such as amber, rosaline and amethyst; the Parisian wholesaler Markhbenn sold them through. This pique-fleur comes from that world. In the interior: On a windowsill in the morning sun the amethyst glows around three loose tulips, each straight in its own hole. Follow DECADERS Gallery by the heart next to my name above: new Art Deco glass pieces and interwar pressed glass every week, you’ll see them first. ——— Condition: Very good. Rim, ribs, knop and foot: no chips or cracks observed. Minor signs of wear. The grid is complete, original and undamaged. The granular texture in the dotted fields is from the mold and is production-specific. See the photos.
