Description: We celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Guglielmo Marconi with two coins that attempt to crystallize significant moments in the life of this illustrious scientist, emblematic figure in the history of telecommunications and Nobel Prize in Physics in 1909: the 2 euro bi-metallic coin in mint condition and proof, and the 25 euro silver-coloured coin in mirror finish. For the 2 euro coin, produced in the two versions FDC (mint condition) and PROOF, artist Loredana Pancotto is inspired by a famous photograph taken on 12 February 1931, the historical date of the inauguration of Vatican Radio. In the image Guglielmo Marconi stands beside Pope Pius XI and the Secretary of State Eugenio Pacelli, future Pope Pius XII. Below we reproduce the historic words of the first message transmitted by Vatican Radio and spoken by Marconi himself: “I have the high honor to announce that in a few moments the Supreme Pontiff Pius XI will inaugurate the radio station of the Vatican City State. The electric waves will carry around the world, through space, his word of peace and blessing…". Shipping: A fast and trackable shipment is carried out. For purchases outside Italy, please note that customs duties may be required, which remain the responsibility of the buyer. The seller assumes no responsibility for delays in shipments caused by the non-payment of customs duties or by delays in delivery attributable to the postal service/courier in that country.
